Lots of patients are keen to start swimming. Swimming can be good for you, but if your swim style isn't correct it can be bad for your lower back and neck.

If you swim breaststroke the key points are:-

1). Make sure that you are lying flat in the water without arching your back,

2). Imagine you have a tennis ball between your chin and chest and don't let it escape. Your head and neck should not move, they should rise on your shoulders.

Also a good idea to swim some backstroke as well, this combination is good for shoulder health and opens your chest out.
